Dear friends and loved ones,
Sorry I haven't written in a while! I have had really busy p-days and
I have no other excuses, but everything is going okay!! I went to the
dentist this week cause I had level 10 pain in my tooth but everything
is all good now! That was an interesting and hard experience but Hna
Bettridge got more time to teach since I couldn't talk hahaha..but
other than that, everything is going fine! Hermana Bettridge's Spanish
is coming along soooo well!!! I am so proud of her! Our investigators
Kevin and Erick need a lot of prayers right now so they can progress..
Please pray for them! Also, I LOVE all the rain we've been getting
here but sadly Hispanics here feel scared to go out in rain so if you
could pray for no rain on Sundays, that would be great haha. I hope
all is well with you!! Love and miss you all lots. I wanted to share
some scriptures with you about faith and repentance.. I know the word
repentance sounds so scary, but don't worry, it isn't. It's just
EVERYTHING God asks us to do:
"Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and
shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of
heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be
called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is
perfect." Matthew 5:48
"And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to
Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and
be thou perfect." Genesis 17:1
"And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good
but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the
commandments" Matthew 19:17
"If ye love me, keep my commandments" John 14:15
"If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have
kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full." John 15:10-11
There are a hundred more examples I could share, but I invite you to
think about why it is that he invites us so often to repent. He loves
us. This is the whole purpose why we're here. He does not expect us to
live a cheap Christianity where we say vocally we believe in Him and
we're saved. That is the lie Satan loves to tempt us with. Christ
pulls us higher. Christ helps us literally overcome our sins and turn
away from them. In this lifetime we won't be perfect, but he
constantly invites us to strive. I promise as you build your faith in
him, your desire to change and repent will increase dramatically. He
loves you and he promises you the blessings of freedom and peace as
you follow him.
"Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to
exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his
holy name, that he would have mercy upon you"
Alma 34:17
Email me if you want to find out what it is that Christ asks of you
how to follow his commandments. :)
Con amor, Hermana Sheirbon
